چکیده

A well–known receiver strategy for CDMA transmission is iterative soft decision interference cancellation. For calculation of soft estimates, the distribution of residual interference is commonly assumed to be Gaussian. In this paper, we analyze matched–filter based iterative soft decision interference cancellation (MF ISDIC) when utilizing the actual probability density function (pdf) of residual interference. Additionally, a hybrid scheme is proposed, which approximates the actual pdf by considering only the strongest residual interferers accurately while the Gaussian assumption is applied on the weak residual interferers. It turns out, that the bit error ratio decreases already noticeably when only a small number of residual interferers is regarded according to its actual pdf. In fact, for the considered CDMA transmission we are able to lower the bit error ratio by 80% for high signal–to–noise ratios when modelling all residual interferers but the strongest 3 to be Gaussian distributed.

Iterative Soft Decision Interference Cancellation for DS-CDMA Employing the Distribution of Interference

A well-known receiver strategy for direct-sequence code-division multiple-access (DS-CDMA) transmission is iterative soft decision interference cancellation. In this paper, we analyze matched filter-based iterative soft decision interference cancellation (MF ISD...

Iterative interference cancellation for high spectral efficiency satellite communications

The problem of efficient utilization of the frequency spectrum for satellite systems is investigated; one which results as a consequence of highly crowding adjacent channels. An analytical characterization of the resulting interference channel is introduced and then exploited for interference cancellation. Two classes of cancelers are investigated. The first approach does not benefit from the f...

Soft Information in Interference Cancellation Based Multiuser Detection

This paper considers soft information in interference cancellation based multiuser detection algorithms. For the case of binary phase-shift keying (BPSK) modulation, a relationship between the soft information as provided by the log likelihood ratio (LLR) and the minimum mean-square error (MMSE) bit estimates is derived, whereby the bit estimate is given by the hyperbolic tangent of one-half th...

A low complexity approach to Turbo Equalizer

The turbo equalizers (TEQ) proposed in literature utilize equalizers based on trellis, soft Wiener filters. The resulting complexity of these equalizers is exponential and cubic in terms of the sampled channel impulse response (CIR). The interference cancellation based decision feedback filter based equalizers requires adaptation of two filters simultaneously. In this paper, a low complexity eq...

Iterative Equalization with Soft Feedback with a Subsequent Stage Utilizing Hopfield Networks for Error Search and Correction

In this paper, a second stage for algorithms applying iterative soft decision interference cancellation (ISDIC) [1], [2], [3], [4] for channel equalization is proposed performing error search and correction. Analysis by simulations shows that a matched filter (MF) ISDIC with subsequent second stage can outperform a more complex minimum mean–squared error (MMSE) ISDIC. Furthermore, the latter ca...
